Grant @ 5 months

Grant has really changed a lot in the last month.  He has such a sweet happy personality that is showing more everyday and he is still full of smiles.  He mastered the roll from his back to his belly and is learning to use it to get places.  I've even walked in the room to catch him on his knees and elbows looking like he wants to start moving.  Not ready for that quickly approaching milestone! He continued to wake up at night when he'd roll over and in his world as long as he's awake he could always get a little snack. After a two week stretch of feeling like I had a newborn again and some long crying it out sessions he's finally adjusted and learned that sleeping on his belly isn't so bad after all.  I guess Mom is always right!

Valentines Day

We had a great time with Valentines Day this year.  It was so fun to see Wes get so excited about doing something nice for his friends and family.  He made homemade Valentines for some relatives and signed his name to his superhero valentines for school friends, he was so proud! He also helped me in the kitchen make some special sweets for daddy and was an excellent taste tester.

Jon and I lucked up that for the second year in a row Valentines fell on Wes's school day. So we got to go out for a kid free lunch and have an uninterrupted conversation. We dropped Grant off at a friends house on the way and he took a nap.  It was a great present!  I'm thankful this year for my 3 Valentines!

Saturday Snow Day!

Friday morning We woke to a disappointing snowfall.  Wes was dying to play in it but there wasn't enough to do much.  That afternoon I was in Target and came across a sled on clearance for $3 and since snow was on my mind thought I'd just get it for next time.  Well it must have been good luck because we woke up Saturday morning to close to 2 inches at our house!  Huge amount for us southerners!  Jon, Wes, and Travis headed out for some quick play before it melted.  That $3 paid off for a fun Saturday morning!

4 month checkup

Grant went in for his 4 month checkup this week and he weighed in at 15 lbs 9 oz (50%) and 25 inches (50%).   He's strong and healthy and is meeting all his milestones perfectly.  He had lots of smiles and things to tell Dr. Brooks.  The doctor did tell us he heard a little heart murmur but he didn't seem concerned and said it was probably something he would outgrow.  Good thing we know a few cardiologists in case we need a second opinion!

He learned to rollover this past Sunday which means hes enjoying "playing" on the floor more.  He's been working on it for a while but was having trouble getting over his chubby little arm.  Sunday night while he was sleeping he figured it out, the down side is now he wakes up and cries every night when he rolls over.  Pretty sure last night was about every 45 minutes... EEK!  So needless to say we've been working this week on letting him put himself to sleep for naps and bedtime.

Pretty sure the TV was on, I get the same look from Wes and Jon!

4 months old

Grant turned four months last Friday.  We're so thankful because he's started to sleep through the night. making Mommy much more cheerful during the day!  He usually wakes up around 4 for an early morning feeding then goes right back to bed.  He's moved to his crib upstairs and its going well with him and Wes sharing a room.  He loves to stand up in our laps and look around so I've started putting him in the exersaucer some to play, but his chubby little legs don't touch the ground yet so he usually only stays there a few minutes.  He still loves his swing, his mobile and his giraffe blanket and puppy that he sleeps with, playing patty cake and flying the Trapeze (some might not know what that is but it's a little song my Granddad used to sing that has been sung for years.)

He's started to laugh some and is always full of smiles.  He has the softest chubby cheeks that I can't resist kissing on all day.  He's starting to "kiss" my face back which is so sweet. We love this little happy guy so much and wish we could freeze time and keep him this little forever!

Chubby little legs.

First time in his bouncy seat.  Not to sure about it yet.

Holidays

The Holidays were a blur this year with travel, visiting family, and a little baby.  We had a great time and were lucky to get to spend time with our entire family.  The kids both had a good Christmas morning and got lots of fun things and some things that they needed.  The big things that Santa brought for Wes was a leapster and a racetrack.  Luckily, Wes asked Santa to bring Grant a few things and he listened so Grant got a rattle and a teddy bear.  I didn't take many pictures of Christmas events at my parents or Jons.  I guess things were just a little hectic with lots of kids and opening presents!  I did remember to take some of our "Cavender Christmas"  and our Christmas at home and a few along the way in December.  Enjoy!
